Centre Bans Separatist JKDFP Organization for Anti-India Activities

New Delhi: The Centre banned the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Thursday. It was declared to be an ‘unlawful association’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

This organization headed by separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah was banned for five years for its “anti-India” activities.

The government cited the organisation’s involvement in anti-national activities since the year 1998 and the involvement of its members in terrorist acts in the country.

Many criminal cases have been registered against the JKDFP organisation under various sections.

Recently the Centre has also banned the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All Tripura Tiger Force for a period of five years under the UAPA.
