29 Bodies of Victims of Balasore Triple Train Accident Yet to Be Claimed

Bhubaneswar: Even after two months, 29 bodies of victims of the triple train accident in Balasore district have not been identified and claimed.

These 29 unclaimed bodies are preserved at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.

A total of 162 bodies had reached the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. Out of them 133 bodies were identified and handed over to their respective family members and relatives.

In the first phase, 81 bodies were handed over to family members of the deceased.

In some cases, there were multiple claimants of bodies. So, their DNA sampling and matching were made to ascertain proper identity. Following this process, 52 bodies were handed over to the proper kin of the deceased in the second phase.

Even after that 29 bodies have not been claimed by anyone, so their identity remains a mystery.
