3 Poachers Arrested for Killing Leopard and Eating Its Meat in Sambalpur Dist

Sambalpur: Three poachers were arrested on Monday night by forest officials on charges of killing a leopard, cooking and eating its meat in the Rairakhol forest range of Sambalpur district.

Acting on an intelligence report, forest officials raided the place inside the forest near the Hiraloi village where the poachers were cooking the meat of the killed leopard. The trio was arrested. The dead leopard’s head and skin were seized from their possession.

The forest officials seized the cooked and raw meat as well as a rifle and bullets from the spot.

The arrested poachers will be interrogated to extract information about their involvement in other wildlife crimes.
