42-Yr-Old Man Arrested for Rape-Murder of 9-Yr-Old Daughter of Friend in Balasore Dist

Balasore: Rabi Singh, a 42-year-old man from Baghamara village of Nilagiri area in Balasore district was arrested by the personnel of the Remuna police station for allegedly raping and murdering the 9-year-old of his friend.

According to the police, the accused had taken the victim with him on Wednesday on the pretext of buying her some snacks. It is alleged that he took her to a deserted place, where he sexually assaulted her before killing her.

The accused Rabi Singh was arrested on Friday and he confessed to the crime during interrogation, police sources said.

He has been booked under sections 103 (murder) and 65 (rape) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) as well as provisions of the POCSO Act.

Rabi and the victim’s father were friends and at times were consuming alcohol together, sources said. On Wednesday Rabi asked the girl’s father to allow him to take her with him for some snacks. When the girl did not return home for long, her father lodged a missing complaint at Remuna police station on Thursday.

The body of a 9-year-old girl was found in an abandoned three-storey building in the Balgopalpur industrial area under Remuna police station limits on Thursday evening.
