9 Maoists Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar Region

Raipur: Nine Maoists were shot dead during an exchange of fire with the security forces in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

This encounter occurred at around 10.30 am in the forest along the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts. A joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had taken up an operation basing on intelligence reports about the presence of Naxalites of the west Bastar division unit in the area.

After the end of exchange of fire, the bodies of nine Maoists were recovered from the spot along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

According to reports, no security personnel were injured during this operation which is still continuing in the area.  Bastar region includes seven districts, including Dantewada and Bijapur.

Till now in 2024, a total number of 154 Naxalites have been slain by the security forces in different encounters in Chhattisgarh.
