Actor-Politician Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty Joins BJP After Quitting BJD

New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha, actor-politician Anubhav Mohanty, who is also the MP of Kendrapara, joined the BJP at a function held at the party headquarters in Delhi on Monday. Senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde welcomed Mohanty into the saffron fold.

Anubhav resigned from the BJD on March 30. In his resignation letter to the BJD supremo, he wrote, “I have been grappling with undisclosed concerns that made me feel suffocated over the past four years.”

On 27 April 2013, Anubhav Mohanty joined the regional political party BJD.  He was elected to Rajya Sabha uncontested in June 2014 and was the youngest parliamentarian of Rajyasabha.

In 2019, he was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from the Kendrapara constituency by defeating BJP’s Baijayant Panda.
