Bhubaneswar: After resigning from the BJD a week back, former chairperson of the State Commission for Women Jyoti Panigrahi joined the BJP on Monday along with her husband Saroj Panigrahi.

The couple joined the saffron party along with BJD’s general secretary Saroj Sahu and the president of Nuapada Biju Yuva Janata Dal Harish Chandra Panda, who resigned from the party a week back. These leaders joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar in the presence of former BJP state president Samir Mohanty and Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda.

Jyoti Panigrahi was the senior vice president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal. She and her husband reportedly quit the BJD to protest against the renomination of sitting Nuapada MLA Rajendra Dholakia.
