New Delhi: Indian Railways has decided to use Internet of Things (IoT)-based solutions to address the problem of smelly and dirty train toilets.
Specifically designed IoT-based technology will be used to detect and manage foul odours within train lavatories.
Mumbai-based startup Viliso Technologies has been chosen to spearhead this innovative project of the Indian Railways.
The technology will involve the deployment of sensors within the toilets to detect volatile compounds and odours. These sensors will relay the data to a central system which will analyze the information to determine if cleaning services are required. It will lead to real-time intervention and will improve the cleanliness and overall condition of the toilets in trains.
Viliso Technologies, known for its IoT-based sanitation solutions, offers a range of products including Gandhvedh, an electronic device that monitors odour, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), temperature, and humidity.
