Setback For Jailed TDP Leader Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh HC Denies Bail in Multiple Cases

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has rejected three bail petitions filed by N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), in various cases.

Naidu sought regular bail in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road and Angallu attack cases, along with an anticipatory bail petition in the FiberNet case.

The Amaravati Inner Ring Road case involves allegations of manipulation in the master plan of Amaravati’s capital city, the alignment of the inner ring road, and the seed capital. These alleged actions were believed to have provided undue benefits to several companies during Naidu’s tenure as chief minister. The Angallu case is connected to riots that occurred during a political rally led by Naidu in August. The violent incidents resulted in injuries to both police officers and supporters of the TDP and the ruling YSRCP. The FiberNet case centres around purported tender manipulation in awarding a work order worth Rs 330 crore under Phase-1 of the AP FiberNet Project to a preferred company. The Crime Investigation Department has alleged irregularities from the tender allocation to the completion of the entire project, leading to significant financial losses for the state.

Naidu is currently in judicial remand at the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison, facing allegations of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which is believed to have caused a substantial loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
