Arrested Kejriwal Will Run Delhi Govt From Jail: AAP

New Delhi: Even after his arrest by the ED, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not resign and run his government from jail, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday.

“Arvind Kejriwal was the Delhi CM, is the CM and will continue to remain the CM. He will not resign,” said AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi. “Kejriwal will continue as chief minister of Delhi, to run govt from jail,” she added.

The ED sleuths arrested Kejriwal on Thursday night, after questioning Kejriwal for around two hours in the Delhi Liquor Policy case.

The ED arrested him a few hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him interim protection from the arrest.

Soon after Kejriwal’s arrest, his lawyers moved the Supreme Court seeking urgent listing and hearing of his plea against the ED action.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said, “India is under an undeclared Emergency. Our democracy stands critically endangered today. Arvind Kejriwal is the second democratically elected opposition CM to be arrested ahead of the upcoming elections. What are we heading towards? India has never seen such blatant misuse of agencies. This is an act of cowardice, and a vicious plot to silence the strongest opposition voices”.
