IND vs ENG: Ravichandran Ashwin Set to Rejoin Team On Day 4 Of 3rd Test After Family Emergency

Rajkot: Indian cricket’s premier spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, is ready to rejoin the team for the crucial Day 4 of the ongoing third Test against England, bringing a major boost to Rohit Sharma’s men. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Ashwin’s return in a statement on Sunday, following his brief absence due to a family emergency.

Ashwin had left the squad after Day 2, leaving a void in India’s spin attack. However, the team rose to the occasion, dismissing England for 319 in the first innings, with Mohammed Siraj leading the charge with four wickets.

“The team management, players, media, and fans have shown immense understanding and empathy,” the BCCI said in its statement, acknowledging the importance of family and expressing support for Ashwin during this challenging time. “We are delighted to welcome him back to the field.”

Ashwin’s return adds vital experience and spin expertise to India’s bowling attack. With India aiming to gain control of the match and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, his presence could prove decisive.
