At Least 7 Killed, 51 Injured in Fire at Mumbai’s 7-Storey Building

Mumbai: At least seven persons died and over 51 others were seriously injured when a fire broke out at a seven-storey residential building in the Mumbai’s Goregaon West around 3:05am on Friday.

According to fire officials, the fire spread through shops on the ground floor. People living in the building were stranded on various floors including the terrace.

The dead included two minors, and three women.

This building was constructed in 2006 under the Slum Rehabilitation scheme and had no firefighting system.

The fire was extinguished at around 6:54 am.

The reason behind the fire was yet to be ascertained. Efforts are underway to provide relief to affected families.
