Bahanaga Train Accident: 7 Railway Employees Suspended

Bhubaneswar: Seven railway employees have been suspended in connection with the triple train accident near Bahanaga railway station that claimed the lives of as many as 294 persons.

These railway employees were put under suspension on charges of dereliction of duty.

Speaking to newsmen, South-Eastern Railway General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra informed that the CBI has arrested three railway employees till now in relation to the accident. The seven suspended employees include the concerned station master, traffic inspector, and maintainer. They were suspended for not being alert during duty hours. The suspension orders were issued following the visit of South-Eastern Railway’s new GM and DRM to Bahanaga Bazar and Balasore railway stations on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the CBI has taken the three arrested, senior Section Engineer (signal) Arun Kumar Mahanta, Section Engineer Mohammed Amir Khan, and Technician Pappu Kumar on another four-day remand.
