4 Men Arrested by CBI For Trafficking Indians to Fight for Russia in Ukraine

New Delhi: The CBI has arrested four persons including a translator on the charges of trafficking Indian nationals to Russia through the lure of better employment and then sending them to the Russia-Ukraine war zone.

The arrested persons included Arun and Yesudas Junior alias Priyan, who are inhabitants of Trivandrum in Kerala. They were nabbed on Tuesday.

The other two accused, Nijil Jobi Bensam from Kanyakumari and Anthony Michael Elangovan from Mumbai, were arrested on April 24.

These traffickers were luring Indian nationals through social media platforms and also through their local agents in the name of highly paid jobs in Russia.

The trafficked Indians were trained in combat roles and deployed at front bases in the Russia – Ukraine War Zone against their wishes, putting their lives in grave danger.

Arrested Nijil Jobi Bensam was working in Russia on a contract basis as a Translator. He was a key member of the network operating in Russia for facilitating the recruitment of Indian nationals in the Russian Army.

Arun and Yesudas were the main recruiters of Indian nationals belonging to Kerala and Tamil Nadu for the Russian Army.
