BJD Expels MLAs Soumya Ranjan Patnaik & Sudhansu Parida

Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Thursday expelled Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Remuna MLA Sudhansu Sekhar Parida from the party.

As per the expulsion letter issued by the party which is signed by Naveen Patnaik, both MLAs were alleged to be involved in anti-people activities.

Regarding Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the expulsion letter stated that as per an FIR lodged by an ex-employee of the Sambad newspaper a case under sections 506/467/468/471/420/120-B of the IPC has been registered against him and others by the EOW Odisha. As per the letter, many ex-employees of the Sambad newspaper have made similar allegations with the EOW Odisha. It is a serious case of organized bank fraud involving loan worth crores of rupees taken in the name of more than 300 employees of the Sambad by using fraudulent and forged documents, said the letter.

The Remuna MLA was the managing partner of M/S Nigamananda Associates, Balasore. In connivance with others, the MLA Parida is alleged to have misappropriated government subsidy, meant for farmers, of more than Rs 3 crore from 2017-18 to 2019-20. This matter is being investigated by the state vigilance on the order of the Lokayukta, stated the expulsion letter.
