BJD Releases 3rd List Of 9 Candidates For Odisha Assembly Polls

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday released its third list of 9 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Odisha.

Under the leadership of CM Naveen Patnaik, the party had previously announced a total of 99 candidates for the 2024 Assembly polls in two phases. With this, the party has now announced candidates for 108 out of the 147 constituencies in the state.

Former MLA Prakash Behera, who recently switched from the BJP to the BJD, secured a nomination from the Barabati-Cuttack Assembly seat. Previously associated with the Congress, Behera had represented the Salipur constituency in 2014 before joining the BJP, where he contested unsuccessfully in 2019.

Additionally, Salipur MLA Prasant Behera and Rourkela MLA Sarada Nayak have been re-nominated by the BJD to contest from their respective constituencies.

The party also nominated Rohit J Tirkey, the son of former MLA George Tirkey, for the Biramitrapur Assembly seat in Sundargarh district.

  • Barabati-Cuttack: Prakash Behera
  • Salipur: Prasant Behera
  • Jayadev: Naba Kishore Mallik
