BJP Announces Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh Candidates, Before Declaration of Assembly Poll Dates

New Delhi: After the Karnataka debacle, the extra cautious BJP announced its first lists of candidates for the Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh scheduled to be held in next few months.

The BJP declared the names of candidates even before the Election Commission of India announces the Assembly Election dates.

On Thursday, the saffron party named 21 candidates for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly and 39 for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House.

A day back, PM Modi chaired a meeting of the BJP’s central election committee for the selection of candidates and preparation of poll strategies.

Early announcement of candidates seems to be aimed at identifying and eradicating infightings well in advance.

Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram will have Assembly Elections this year.

Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are ruled by Opposition parties. BJP’s ties with its ally and ruling party Mizo National Front in Mizoram are not that good following the Manipur unrest. In Madhya Pradesh, Congress is expected to give a good fight to the BJP.
