CBI Begins Probe into NEET-UG Irregularities; FIR Lodged

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR to investigate reported irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam held on May 5.

This development follows the Centre’s decision to transfer the probe to the CBI, responding to widespread student protests demanding a thorough investigation.

The CBI’s fresh case targets unidentified individuals based on a referral from the Union Education Ministry.

The exam was taken by approximately 24 lakh students nationwide.

A senior official from the Education Ministry confirmed, “Reports of cheating, impersonation, and other malpractices in the NEET-UG exam have surfaced. To ensure transparency, a review led to the decision to involve the CBI for a comprehensive probe.”
