China Secures First Gold of Paris Olympics in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Event

Chateauroux (France): China’s Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao clinched the first gold medal at the Paris Games on Saturday, winning the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The Chinese duo continued their nation’s dominance in the sport, following the success of Yang Qian and Yang Haoran at the Tokyo Olympics.

In an intense final at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, Huang and Sheng initially surged to a 14-8 lead. However, South Korea’s Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun mounted a strong comeback, narrowing the gap to 14-12 before the Chinese team secured a 16-12 victory.

Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev earned their country’s first medal of the Paris Games, capturing bronze with a decisive 17-5 win over Germany’s Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich.

Huang and Sheng, the reigning world champions, dominated the qualifying round, setting the stage for their gold-medal performance and ensuring China’s continued success in the 10m air rifle mixed team event.
