Close Aide of Priyanka Gandhi Quits Congress to Join BJP

New Delhi: Tajinder Singh Bittu, a close associate of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, quit the Congress to join the BJP on Saturday.

He joined the saffron party a few hours after leaving the Congress.

Bittu was the Congress secretary in-charge of Himachal Pradesh. He joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and party general secretary Vinod Tawde.

In his resignation letter sent to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Bittu wrote, “I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and from my post AICC, secretary co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh, effective immediately.”
