CM Majhi Felicitates Olympic Medalist Hockey Star Amit Rohidas, Who Gets Hero’s Welcome on Return

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi felicitated Odisha’s hockey star Amit Rohidas after his return to Odisha from the Paris Olympics. Rohidas played a key role in bronze medal win of the Indian Men’s hockey team.

He was felicitated at a special event attended by the CM and other ministers. The Chief Minister was optimistic that in the next Los Angeles Olympics, India team with Rohidas will win the gold medal.

CM Majhi termed Rohidas as a source of inspiration for the youth and added that the Odisha government will continue to support hockey so that India wins more medals in major international events.

Rohidas was the only Odia player in the Olympic bronze medal winning hockey team. He is the first Odia player to win consecutive Olympic medals.

He was given a rousing welcome at the Bhubaneswar airport. He was greeted by fans, family, and officials on his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha government has announced a cash reward of Rs 4 crore for Rohidas, while the Indian hockey team players will receive Rs 15 lakh each and the support staff Rs 10 lakh each.
