Congress Chooses Revanth Reddy as Telangana CM, To Take Oath Tomorrow

Hyderabad: Congress central leadership decided to make its Telangana party chief A. Revanth Reddy the Chief Minister of the State.

Reddy will take the oath of office on Thursday (December 7).

He was named the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), and will be the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana, a State formed in 2014.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge named Revant Reddy as per the report submitted by the party’s poll observers.

“Going by the feedback provided by the Congress observers, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, party in-charge for Telangana Manikrao Thakare, and other leaders, the Congress president decided to nominate Mr. Reddy as the CLP leader,” said AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal said

A maximum of 17 Ministers, apart from the Chief Minister, can be inducted into the Telangana Cabinet. The Congress has 64 MLAs in the newly elected Telangana Assembly.
