Crew Goes on “Mass Sick Leave”, Over 70 Air India Express Flights Cancelled

New Delhi: Over 70 Air India Express flights had to be cancelled on Wednesday as the cabin crew members went on a “mass sick leave”.

As per media reports, around 79 international and domestic flights were cancelled when about 300 senior cabin crew members at the last minute reported sick. These crew members also switched off their mobile phones, so that they could not be contacted immediately by the Air India Express management.

According to sources, these crew members are protesting against the new employment conditions at the Tata Group-owned airline.

A month back, a union of the Air India Express cabin crew alleged that the airline was being mismanaged. Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) had also alleged that mismanagement of the affairs has affected the morale of the employees.
