CRPF Officer Killed in Encounter with Terrorists in Jammu’s Udhampur

Udhampur (J&K): A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector laid down his life in a fierce encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday.

The officer, who led his team to inspect a post under preparation for the deployment of a CRPF battalion, was ambushed by terrorists and fatally shot, according to reports.

The encounter occurred approximately eight kilometres from the police post in Dudu, Udhampur. The post was being established as part of new anti-terror measures in the hilly regions of Jammu.

Terrorist activities have surged in the Jammu region in recent months. In July, four Army personnel, including an officer, and a police official were killed in a gunfight with heavily armed terrorists in Doda district. The attack was claimed by the ‘Kashmir Tigers’, a proxy group of the Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Additionally, on July 8, five Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, were killed, and several others were injured when terrorists ambushed an Army convoy in Kathua district. On July 6, six terrorists were neutralised by security forces in twin gunfights in Kulgam district, where two soldiers also lost their lives.
