High Alert in Delhi, Restrictions in Haryana Ahead of February 13 Farmers’ Protest

New Delhi: As the February 13 “Delhi Chalo” march by over 200 farmer unions approaches, tensions simmer between the agitating groups and the government. Haryana Police issued a traffic advisory urging residents to avoid main roads, while Delhi Police beefed up security at borders, deploying cranes and containers to restrict access.

Farmers, led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, demand a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops and other crucial issues.

Amidst calls for dialogue, Haryana imposed Section 144 in Panchkula and suspended internet in seven districts, prompting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal to criticize “intimidation tactics.”

A crucial meeting between farmer representatives and Union Ministers is scheduled for today in Chandigarh, raising hopes for a possible resolution.

Haryana deployed 50 Central paramilitary force companies, while Punjab-Haryana borders in Ambala, Jind, and Fatehabad are heavily guarded.

Farmers’ demonstration on Noida Expressway concluded after assurances from authorities but highlighted ongoing land acquisition grievances.
