Dress Code to Enter Puri Jagannath Temple from January 1, No Torn Jeans, Sleeveless Dresses

Bhubaneswar: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration  (SJTA) has decided to implement dress code for entry into the Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri from January 1.

The decision was taken at the ‘Niti’ sub-committee meeting following complaints that some people were entering the temple wearing “indecent” dresses.

The SJTA and servitors of the temple are against people wearing torn jeans, sleeveless dresses and half-pants on the temple premises.

The SJTA authorities feel that the sanctity and dignity of the temple should be maintained.

From January 1, 2024, the security personnel deployed at ‘Singha Dwar’ of the temple, and Pratihari servitors inside the temple would take up the responsibility to enforce the dress code inside the temple. People wearing half-pants, shorts, torn jeans, skirts and sleeveless dresses will not be allowed entry into the temple.

Very soon the kind of dresses that would be allowed inside the temple will be decided.

The SJTA has decided to start an awareness drive to make devotees aware that they should wear decent dresses while entering the temple.
