Boulder Falls from Puri Srimandir, Damages A Temple on Its Premises

Puri: A Rock piece got detached and fell from the Baraha temple inside the Srimandir premises in Puri on Saturday morning. The fallen rock damaged the roof of the adjoining Ekadashi temple.

The Srimandir Commander collected the fallen rock piece and informed the ASI authorities regarding the incident. Baraha temple is located in front of the Bimala temple at the south of the main temple.

The reason behind the incident and the place from where the rock fell has not been ascertained yet. Servitors feel, the loose boulder might have fallen while monkeys jumped on it.

The ASI confirmed the incident and will take up an inquiry regarding it.

In 2011, a one-tonne stone had fallen from the dome of the western gate of the the Jagannath Temple in Puri.

In 2015, a 40 Kg stone slab fell off the ‘Jalakrida Mandap’ of the temple.
