To Complete Bhojshala Survey, ASI Requests Court for Extra 2 Months Time

Bhopal: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) submitted an application before the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking eight more weeks to complete the court-mandated scientific survey of the Bhojshala complex in the Dhar district in the state.

The original deadline to complete the survey ended on Tuesday.

The ASI filed its application before the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The plea is likely to be taken up on April 29.

In its plea, the ASI stated that it needs more time to “understand the nature of the exposed parts of the disputed complex’s structures.”

The Hindus believe that the Bhojshala complex is a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. But the Muslims consider the site to be the Kamal Maula Mosque. As per an ASI order of 2003, Hindus are allowed to pray there on Tuesdays, from sunrise to sunset. Muslims can offer their Friday namaz in the disputed complex, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
