Drunk Men Eat Half Burnt Human Corpse in Mayurbhanj, Two Detained

Baripada: Two inebriated men allegedly ate portions of a half-burnt human body in a crematorium at Bandhasahi village under Badasahi police station in Mayurbhanj district.

The body happened to be of Madhusmita Singh (25) of Bandhasahi. Due to rains, the body could not be completely burnt during cremation at the funeral ground at Bandhasahi village.

According to the deceased’s father Somai Singh, an elderly person suggested that they should burn the remaining part of the body in a pot.

It is alleged that after obtaining permission from the deceased’s father, this elderly man and a youth chopped the liver of the corpse into three parts. But instead of burning them, they started eating the half-burnt human body parts.

The shocked locals rounded up the two men and beat them up. They were later handed over to the police.

The two accused were identified as Sundormon Singh and Bhoron Singh. They reportedly confessed before the angry villagers that as they were intoxicated, they consumed the half-burnt human flesh. A preliminary investigation into the incident by the police also revealed that the two accused were dead drunk when they resorted to this horrific act.
