ECI Team to Visit Odisha on Feb 15 to Review State’s Election Readiness

Bhubaneswar: A high-level delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, is set to visit Odisha for a three-day inspection of the state’s election readiness ahead of the upcoming General Elections this year.

Scheduled to arrive on February 15 and stay until February 17, the team will include Election Commissioner Arun Goel, Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma, and other officials.

During their visit, the team will engage in comprehensive reviews of the state’s preparedness for the 2024 general elections. They will hold discussions with national and state-recognized political parties, as well as officials including District Electoral Officers (DEOs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), Commissioners of Police (CPs), Divisional Commissioners, and Inspector Generals (IGs).

Additionally, meetings are planned with the Chief Electoral Officer, State Police Nodal Officer, Central Police Forces (CPF) Nodal Officer, enforcement agencies, Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha.

With elections imminent for the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies in Odisha and neighbouring states, the ECI team’s visit underscores the importance of assessing and ensuring adequate preparations for the upcoming polls. Prior to Odisha, the team had also conducted a similar review in Andhra Pradesh.
