Dharamsala: In their second World Cup match, the defending champions, England secured a commanding 137-run victory against Bangladesh on Tuesday. England was asked to bat first, and they posted an imposing total of 364 for 9, thanks to impressive performances by Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Joe Root.

Dawid Malan played a stellar innings, scoring 140 runs, while Jonny Bairstow contributed 52 and Joe Root made 82, both reaching half-centuries. The opening pair of Malan and Bairstow set the stage with a partnership of 115 runs, and later, Malan and Root added 151 runs for the second wicket.

Bangladesh faced a challenging target and managed to reach a total of 227 in 48.2 overs. Litton Das (76) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51) were the primary contributors for Bangladesh. Reece Topley was England’s standout bowler, claiming four wickets, while Chris Woakes took two.

Among Bangladesh’s bowlers, Mahedi Hasan stood out with figures of 4/71 in his 8 overs, while left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam secured three wickets.
