Kendrapara: In a heartwarming reunion, a man who was presumed dead returned home to Dholamara village in Kendrapara district, Odisha, after 35 years.
Jamini Sethi had left his village to seek employment in Rajasthan many years ago. However, he never returned, and his family was told that he had passed away.
The family performed the last rites for Jamini, but fate had a different plan in store. A social organization located Jamini in Mumbai and brought him back to his native village.
Jamini is unable to speak fluently due to his health, but he can still recognize his relatives. He is currently living with his elder brother, Amulya Sethi.
Amulya Sethi expressed his joy at his brother’s miraculous return. He said, “He had gone to Rajasthan as a migrant labourer. Later, we couldn’t know his whereabouts. When some people said he had died, we performed his death rituals. Now we are happy that he has returned home after 35 years.”
Prafulla Sethi, a friend of Jamini, also shared his happiness at the unexpected reunion. He recounted the moment when Jamini arrived in the village and inquired about Pandab Sethi, Jamini’s father. Prafulla was astounded when Jamini recognized him.
