Excise Officer With 8 Houses, 52 Plots Arrested by Odisha Vigilance

Bhubaneswar: Rama Chandra Mishra, Joint Commissioner Excise, Bhubaneswar was arrested by Odisha vigilance officials. A disproportionate assets (DA) case was lodged against him after raids revealed that his huge assets included six multi-storey buildings, two flats in Bhubaneswar and Bargarh as well as 52 plots.

Around 230 grams of gold and bank deposit of Rs 22 lakh have also been unearthed by the Vigilance officials during the searches. He also owns a non-functional rice mill and a farmhouse in Sonepur.

Rama Chandra Mishra entered into government service in 1988 as Sub-Inspector, Excise. He was promoted to the rank of Inspector of Excise in 2009, as Excise Superintendent in 2018 and as Deputy Commissioner in 2021. In 2024, he was promoted to the post of Joint Commissioner of Excise and was posted at Directorate Excise, IPICOL Tower, Bhubaneswar.
