Fake Passport Scam: CBI Raids Over 50 Places in Bengal, Sikkim, Arrests 2

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday conducted raids at more than 50 places in West Bengal and Sikkim to investigate a fake passport scam.

Raids were conducted in Kolkata, Siliguri, Darjeeling, and Gangtok.

The CBI officials arrested a senior superintendent posted at the Gangtok Passport Seva Kendra and a hotel agent. Cash worth Rs 1,90,000 was seized from the possession of the arrested senior superintendent that he had collected for illegally issuing passports with forged and fake documents.

Following the raids, CBI also filed a case against 24 individuals, including 16 officials, who were allegedly issuing passports on the basis of forged documents to ineligible persons in return for bribes.
