Fire Accident At SNCU Unit of Koraput Medical College & Hospital; No Injuries Reported

Bhubaneswar: A short circuit caused a fire accident at the SNCU unit of the Maternal and Pediatric Department of the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput on Friday.

The fire sparked from a short circuit filled the entire ward with thick smoke. The hospital authorities immediately evacuated all patients and personnel in the ward to safety. So, there were no casualties or injuries.

The ones evacuated from the SNCU included the newborns and pregnant women. The medical staff and relatives of the patients in the ward were also shifted to a safe place.

After receiving information the local police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot and put off the source of fire and did not let it spread to other portions of the hospital.
