Former Karnataka CM Sadananda Gowda Quits Politics After Denied Ticket by BJP

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda on Thursday announced that he was quitting politics. Citing reasons behind his decision, he said, he was “upset with the BJP” after the Bangalore North seat was “given to someone else in my place”.

Sidelining Sadanand Gowda, the BJP has fielded Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje from the seat for the upcoming national elections.

Addressing a press conference, former Union Minister Sadanand Gowda said, “I am upset with BJP as the election ticket (from Bangalore North seat) has been given to someone else in my place. When the Bengaluru North constituency candidate was announced, it had become the talking point of the town.”

“I’m pained by how the party has treated me, but I will continue to work for the BJP, it has given me everything… My aim is to work for the BJP and cleanse the party. Only Sadananda Gowda can purify the party,” he added.

“But I will not join the Congress party,” he said.
