Former Odisha CM Gamang Rejoins Congress with Wife, Son

New Delhi: Former Odisha CM and tribal leader Giridhar Gamang rejoined the Congress along with his wife Hemabati Gamang and son Sishir Gamang in New Delhi on Wednesday. Along with them the former Bargarh MP Sanjay Bhoi also returned back to the Congress.

These four Odisha leaders returned back to the Congress in the presence of Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken and the party’s Odisha in-charge Dr Ajoy Kumar.

Welcoming them to the party, Makan praised Gamang and his family’s contribution for the development of Odisha. He felt that the induction of these leaders will strengthen the Congress organization in Odisha.

Gamang, who had risen in the Congress to become nine-time MP of Koraput and later the CM of Odisha had joined the BJP and then the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS). After leaving the BRS, the Gamang family had shown interest in rejoining the Congress.

Gamang had quit Congress in 2015 to join the BJP. In January 2023, he left the BJP to join the BRS.

Sanjay Bhoi is the son of former Congress MP of Bargarh, Krupasindhu Bhoi. He quit the Congress and joined the BJP after being denied a ticket in the 2019 elections.
