Govt School Teacher Suspended in Boudh Dist for Casteist Behaviour towards Dalits

Boudh: The District Education Officer (DEO) of Boudh suspended a government school teacher of Kantamal Block for his alleged objectionable casteist behaviour towards a Dalit student and parents.

The DEO took action as per a probe report regarding the incident.

According to reports, the Sanskrit teacher of Sadar High School at Jogindrapur Panchayat in Kantamal area, Anusuya Devi, , threw food items cooked for a feast during Saraswati Puja celebrations on February 14 at the school, when a Dalit student touched the food containers.

This casteist behaviour of the Sanskrit teacher was protested by the students as well as their parents. The headmaster of the school tried to pacify the situation, but the accused teacher also misbehaved with the guardians of the students with casteist remarks.

The father of the targeted Dalit student informed the incident to Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Vikas Parishad, and with its support lodged a police complaint.

The District Pana-Ganda Vikas Parishad also drew the attention of the DEO towards the incident. The Boudh DEO Gendera Kujur directed the Additional DEO Ghanashyam Meher and Kantamal Block Education Officer Sanoj Sethy to enquire into the incident.

Based on the enquiry report, the DEO took action against the erring casteist Sanskrit teacher.
