Harbhajan Singh Slams Inzamam for Comments on Religious Conversion

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh slammed Pakistan cricket veteran Inzamam-ul-Haq for making false claims that Harbhajan was close to converting to Islam.

Harbhajan took to social media to express his anger and displeasure over Inzamam’s statement. “Yeh kon sa nasha pee ke baat kar raha hai….”, said Harbhajan in a post on X. In an interview to India Today, Harbhajan asked the former Pak cricketer to see a doctor as he is not in the right mental state.

Recently an old video of former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq went viral in which he claimed that Harbhajan was close to converting to Islam.

Harbhajan reacted to the statement and slammed the Pak veteran player by saying Inzamam was “lying”.

In the video, Inzamam said, “We had a room where prayers were conducted. Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us in the evening and lead us into a namaz. After a few days, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Zaheer Khan also started coming. Four other Indian cricketers sat and watched us.”

“Harbhajan, who was unaware that Tariq Jameel was a maulana, said “I am impressed with this man and want to follow his words’,” he added.

In his social media post, Harbhajan denied Inzamam’s story and said he is a “proud Sikh”.
