Ravichandran Ashwin Becomes 3rd Indian to Claim 700 International Wickets

India’s charismatic spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made history by becoming the third Indian bowler to claim more than 700 wickets in international cricket.

On day-1 of the first Test match against West Indies, Ashwin claimed his fifth 5-wicket haul against the Caribbean team, according to ESPNcricinfo.  With it he joined the team of the elite 700 plus wicket-taker group of Indian bowlers.

Former India head coach, Anil Kumble, is the top wicket-taker for the country with 956 international wickets. He is followed by Harbhajan Singh with 711 wickets in international cricket.

Ashwin has the chance to go past Harbhajan in the Test series against West Indies. Ashwin’s five-wicket haul was also his third Test five-for against the West Indies.
