With Ashwin’s 9-Wicket Haul India Beat England by Innings & 64 Runs to Clinch Test Series 4-1

Dharamsala: India defeated England by an innings and 64 runs in the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala on Saturday. The highlight of the match was Ravichandran Ashwin’s haul of nine wickets.

With this win, India clinched the Test series 4-1.

Ashwin, who was playing his 100th Test match, took five wickets in the second innings to add to four in the first innings.

England batters again failed to face the Indian bowlers as they were all out for 218 and 195 in their two innings. India scored 477 in first innings to craft the innings defeat.

Openers Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110) scored centuries while debutant Devdutt Padikkal (65), Yashasvi Jaiswal (57) and Sarfaraz Khan (56) scored fifties.

But during this match England’s veteran pacer James Anderson took his 700th wicket on Saturday morning.

England: 218 and 195 all out in 48.1overs (Joe Root 84, Jonny Bairstow 39; Ravichandran Ashwin 5/77).

India: 477 all out in 124.1 overs (Subman Gill 110, Rohit Sharma 103, Devdutt Padikkal 65; Shoaib Bashir 5/173).
