Sri Lanka Batter Makes History with 1st Time Achievement in 147 Yrs of Cricket History

Sri Lanka cricket team’s all-rounder Kamindu Mendis became the first cricketer ever in the history of Test cricket to score two centuries in the same match while batting at No. 7 or below. Mendis achieved this landmark on Day 3 of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Sylhet.

Mendis scored 102 in the first innings and an impressive 164 in the second innings. Dhananjaya de Silva also scored centuries in both innings of the match and the pair also became the third in the history of the game to achieve the feat after Greg Chappel-Ian Chappel (Australia) and Misbah-ul-Haq-Azhar Ali (Pakistan).

Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis both slammed their second century of the match as Sri Lanka set up a 511-run target for Bangladesh before pushing the hosts to the corner in the first Test on Sunday.
