Hindalco to Set Up Unit to Manufacture Aluminium Foil for EV Batteries in Sambalpur Dist

Jharsuguda: Hindalco is planning to establish a manufacturing unit for specialised aluminium foil for lithium-ion batteries at Lapanga in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The Sambalpur Cluster Head of Hindalco, Kailash Pandey informed this at the the 24th edition of Enterprise Odisha at Jharsuguda, on Friday.

This unit will be set up at a cost of Rs 803 crore. Through this unit, Hindalco plans to enter into the arena of the electric vehicle (EV) market.

According to Pandey, the company also plans to set up a white-fused alumina project on the premises of Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga. This project would reduce dependence on imports for the Indian refractory industry and open up significant export opportunities in Southeast Asia, the Far East and the Middle East.

These two projects of Hindalco have received the necessary clearance from the Odisha government.
