INDIA Bloc Walks Out of Rajya Sabha During PM’s Speech, Dhankar Terms It Insult to Constitution

New Delhi: The MPs of the INDIA bloc parties staged a walkout of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday when the Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge was not allowed to intervene during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech.

Kharge wanted to intervene during Modi’s reply to a discussion on motion thanking the President for her Address to the joint sitting of Parliament.

Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar did not heed to Kharge’s requests. Protesting it, INDIA block MPs raised slogans and asking for the LoP to be allowed to speak.

PM Modi continued his speech amid the sloganeering and Kharge repeatedly pleaded to be allowed to speak.

When Dhankar did not permit, INDIA bloc MPs staged a walkout of the House.

Dhankhar condemned the walkout terming it as an insult to the Constitution. Modi too denounced the walkout.
