IT Officials Unearth Over Rs 150 Cr During Raid on Odisha Liquor Baron

Bhubaneswar: Income Tax officials unearthed cash worth over Rs 150 crore during multiple raids on a liquor manufacturing company.

IT raids continue on multiple divisions of Boudh Distilleries Private Limited, for the second day on Thursday.

As per reports, more than Rs 150 crore in cash was seized during raids at the Balangir office of Baldeo Sahu & Group of Companies. The cash was money stashed in an almirah.

Baldeo Sahu & Group of Companies is the partnership firm of Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd (BDPL), which was raided on Wednesday.

The IT department has raided the residences of two liquor traders at Sudapada in Balangir and Titilagarh, respectively, and seized cash from there.

A truck brought the cash seized during the raids to the State Bank of India’s Balangir branch on Wednesday night.

Two liquor traders Deepak Sahu and Sanjay Sahu of Titilagarh have absconded after the IT raids.

Raids were also conducted at the corporate office of Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd at Palasapalli in Bhubaneswar, the houses of some company officials, at the company’s factory and office in Boudh Ramchikata and at the Ranisati Rice Mill.
