Kalahandi University Renamed as Maa Manikeshwari University

Bhubaneswar: Kalahandi University has been renamed as Maa Manikeshwari University, a release of the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Friday.

The Higher Education Department had given this proposal for renaming of the university, which was approved by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said the release.

This university was formed on September 1, 2020, with 50 colleges.

The new name of the university is related to Goddess Maa Manikeshwari, the reigning deity of Kalahandi district.

During his visit to Kalahandi district in November, the Chief Minister announced that Kalahandi University would be named after Maa Manikeshwari.
