Karnataka Woman Stripped, Paraded Naked, Tied to Pole as Son Elopes with Girl

Bengaluru: A woman was allegedly attacked, stripped, paraded naked and tied to an electric pole in the new Vantamuri village of Belagavi district in Karnataka because her son eloped with a girl, whose marriage was fixed with someone else.

Apart from humiliating and torturing the woman, the family members of the girl damaged her house in new Vantamuri village, damaging it.

The naked woman was paraded around the village and was tied to an electricity pole, till the police

Seven persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.

In the wee hours of Monday, 24-year-old Ashok and 18-year-old Priyanka, who were in love, escaped from the new Vantamuri village.

Priyanka’s family members were angered by it. They attacked the house of Ashok and inhumanly tortured his mother.

Regarding this incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “strict action will be taken against those who have committed the offence.” He termed the incident “extremely inhuman”. In a post on X, Siddaramaiah said,”This has made the whole society bow their head in shame. Our government will not tolerate such heinous acts for any reason.” “Several people have already been arrested in connection with the case. It is our full responsibility to provide justice to the aggrieved family by taking action to ensure that the culprits are punished severely,” he added. Karnataka Home Minister also visited the village where the incident occurred.
