Kedarnath, Yamunotri Open for Devotees, Chardham Yatra Begins

Dehradun: Kedarnath and Yamunotri temples in the Garhwal Himalayas were reopened for devotees on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Friday.

Along with it, the Chardham Yatra also began on Friday. The doors of these hill shrines remained closed during the winter season.

The doors of the revered Kedarnath and Yamunotri shrines were reopened at 7 am on Friday in the presence of a large number of devotees.

About 10,000 devotees were present when the portals of Kedarnath were opened.

Like the past years, devotional tunes were also played by a band of the Army’s Grenadier Regiment during the reopening of the shrine.

The Kedarnath temple was decorated with more than 20 quintals of flowers. During the opening of the doors of the shrine, flowers were also showered on pilgrims by a helicopter.

The doors of Gangotri shrine will open on Friday afternoon and those of Badrinath on Sunday.
