Know About Kalpana Soren from Odisha Who May Become Jharkhand CM If Hemant Soren Resigns

Ranchi: Kalpana Soren, Hemant Soren’s wife hailing from Odisha is rumoured to be the plan B of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in case Hemant gets arrested by the ED.

Kalpana isn’t an MLA but political observers in Jharkhand have little doubt that Kalpana Soren will take over as the Chief Minister as she will be accepted by everyone in the party.

Kalpana has been advising Hemant on several political matters. She was also present at the meeting Hemant had with MLAs on Tuesday morning in Ranchi.

According to reports, to pave the way for Kalpana’s ascension, JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed has resigned from the Jharkhand Assembly. Ahmed is a three-time MLA from the Gandey constituency. After being elected twice on Congress tickets, he joined the JMM just ahead of the 2019 polls. He has vacated the Gandey seat to get Kalpana elected in a by-election from the constituency.

The 43-year-old Kalpana is a resident of the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, the home district of President Droupadi Murmu. She has masters in engineering degrees also has an MBA degree.

At present Kalpana runs a school and is also involved in organic farming. Kalpana is the best choice as Congress an ally of the JMM has 17 seats and is not in a position to stake claim to the CM’s chair. The RJD, another ally, has just one seat.
