Autopsy Reveals 150 mg Semen in Kolkata Doctor’s Body, Suggests Gang Rape: Parents to High Court

Kolkata: The horrific rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata has sent shockwaves across the nation. The victim’s parents have alleged gang-rape in a petition filed with the Calcutta High Court, which subsequently transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The petition details the gruesome findings of the post-mortem report. Multiple injuries on the victim’s body, including bite marks on her neck and signs of strangulation, point to a brutal and violent attack.

The autopsy further revealed the presence of 150 mg of semen, which the parents argue indicates the involvement of multiple individuals, reinforcing the suspicion of gangrape.

Before the case was handed over to the CBI, the state police had arrested Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer associated with the hospital. However, the victim’s parents assert that no further arrests have been made, despite evidence suggesting the involvement of more than one person.

The high court’s decision to transfer the case also criticised the hospital administration, particularly former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh, for not filing a police complaint after the doctor was found dead. The court questioned the state government’s decision to appoint Dr Ghosh as the principal of another medical college just hours after his resignation from RG Kar Medical College.

The petition also alleged that the autopsy was conducted hastily, possibly to shield those involved in the crime.
